(for my grandson)
An ancestor once said that if you hold
these seed-globes in your hand and then unfold
your fingers gently – let them blow away,
they’ll lift a wish and leave it waiting where
the others are. And someday distant when
you feel the breeze across your other shoulder they
will drift along this different wind and bring
your wishes home. I thought I’d pass this on and though
you’ll grow to doubt these things at least we owe
her restless vision something for the day
a Kerry wind blew distant wishes home.
